I'm Back!!!

Hello peeps!

I'm back from an incredible trip to Rwanda/Uganda followed by another amazing weekend in Cape Town and I have so many photos and stories to share.  This past week I've also been fortunate to have the same friends I was visiting in Cape Town staying with me in Jo'burg, which explains my extended absence.

Although I love being on the go, I must say that I'm looking forward to things quieting down a bit over the next couple of weeks and being able to get back into my normal routine.  After a long trip it always takes me awhile to fall back into the everyday sync of things.

Bird's eye view of the sunset on the way to Rwanda :)
I was hoping to start sharing about my time in Rwanda today, but it's taking me forever to go through the hundreds and hundreds of photos I took.  Alas, this photo of the sunset taken from the plane on the way there will have to do until Wednesday {I must admit that I really love this picture}.

In other news, a couple of weeks ago my car finally decided to die on me so I bought a new one that should be arriving sometime this weekend.  It's a 2011 Ford Fiesta {I'm not sure if that model has made it to the US yet} and while I'm very excited at the prospect of having a new car I'm also nervous because this means that I finally need to force myself to learn how to drive manual {about 95% of cars in South Africa are manuals}.  I'm taking a few lessons and crossing my fingers that the transition won't be a difficult one.

And before I go, a HUGE shout out to all the Mothers out there {especially my own!} for Mother's Day this past weekend.  I hope everyone was showered with plenty of love and appreciation and surrounded by those closest to them.

Hope everyone had an amazing weekend and is looking forward to a great week ahead!

  4. I can't drive a manual either...and we own one in Malta. We own a car I can't drive! Shameful, really. But combine the stick shift with driving on the left side of the road and the aggressive Maltese drivers and it's a bit daunting to learn. I'll get there someday :)

  11. I'm dying to see your pictures!

And I'm sure you'll do fine with the car. I learned on a manual and you just have to go for it. It's nerve-wracking, and stressful, and terrible at moments, but once you get it, it's pretty awesome.

  15. I can't wait to hear about Rwanda! That's my next 'must go to place' in SA. And don't worry about learning manual - in Australia most of the cars are automatic as well, so coming here with this country's manual car lovin' was a rude shock. But after a couple of lessons I really got the hang of it - you will be fine. Good luck and happy new car!!

  18. That view is beautiful. I love it when you get to see things like that on a flight - it makes the travelling experience feel 'real' and beneficial somehow, if you know what I mean?

  19. Welcome back! I'm sure you have amazing pictures and stories. I can't wait to read all about it.
Congrats on the new car! Thats exciting. I can't wait to get a new one myself... hopefully soon. Good luck learning stick shift! When I came to America I thought it was totally weird that everyone drove automatic cars and I had NO CLUE how to.
