Lately...

The past couple of weeks have been busy, busy, busy and between crazy work schedules, a research proposal, and a big move {still in Jo'burg though!}, Jurg and I are more than ready for the Easter break that's just around the corner.  We contemplated going away for the long weekend, but then decided that we'd rather just lay low in Jo'burg and relax - and more and more I'm starting to think we made the right decision.

During busy weeks like the past two, Jurg and I try to multi-task by hopping in the car and heading to one of our favorite restaurants to study.  It's productive, the change of scenery provides a guaranteed cure for cabin fever, and it allows us to spend time together without feeling guilty about not working.  When you add delicious food, drinks, and dessert to the mix all of a sudden having to work over the weekends doesn't seem half bad!

Last weekend we decided on Kitchen Bar at the Design Quarter and it turned out to be just the pick-me-up we needed.

And P.S. - their dessert was just as delicious as it looks :)

Luckily, it seems that things are finally starting to calm down on my side and I'm looking forward to getting back into my blogging routine and catching up on all of your lovely blogs!  I have so many things I've been wanting to share on this little space of mine, but haven't had the time to do it so over the next couple of weeks I'll be playing catch up {what's new, ha!}.

But before you go, please hop on over to Mo's blog New On U and check out a guest post I recently wrote about a road trip Jurg and I took through California in 2008.  If you haven't met Mo before you're missing out, she's one of the sweetest bloggers around and someone who I've come to consider a good friend.

Also, on Monday I participated in Nicole's "It's a Girl Party" Link-up.  If you're looking to meet some incredibly inspiring ladies then look no further!  See her link-up here!

  3. Now, I will be forever finished with studying in less than a month, but, that kind of studying I think I could deal with.

  10. Jenna! I just found your blog and I felt like I'd been klaaped by the good luck fairy. I'm also an American living in Joburg. My parents were missionaries to SA and I just grew up here. It's awesome to see the American/South African cultures collide somewhere else besides my life. I'll definitely be checking back here often. Here's my blog: http://www.scribbable.blogspot.com/

  13. Love your idea of mixing up studying by doing it a restaurant. I used to study in the most random places but it definitely helps to break up the monotony. And especially when you can do it with your boy, it makes everything more fun!

  16. am i allowed to claim this as one of my favorite restaurants even if i have never been there? because im pretty sure it would be if i went there.

i think it is funny that yall go to a restaurant to study (are you studying for something now too? did i miss something...i knew he was). i used to do the same! except id head to a bar so i had beer waiting for me as incentive to study study study, then i could drink drink drink. and then forget about everything i previously studied.
