Virtual Coffee

Thanks for meeting me for coffee!  This is my first time doing this sort of post, but I hope that it will become part of my Tuesday routine in the future :)

If we were really meeting for coffee today I would add an extra shot of espresso to my order... either that or I would go for a soy Chai Tea Late at Starbucks since it is my favorite and I can't get it here.  What kind of coffee would you get if we were really meeting for coffee?

If we were really meeting for coffee I would tell you that I miss you dearly and wish we were having coffee face to face.  I would want to get a full update about what was going on in your life, because chances are I am way behind and I would want to catch up on everything that's happened since we last spoke.

I would tell you how relieved, happy and thankful I am that my Grandpa responded so well to his heart surgery and that he will most likely be moved from ICU to the general ward at USC today.  I would tell you that it's been really hard being so far away from family now, but that I have never been so thankful for skype and web cams :)

I would tell you that I am loving these afternoon thunderstorms here in Johannesburg, but that I really need to invest in rainboots!  I almost slipped about five times walking to class today because I was wearing flip flops in the pouring rain!  I would ask you how the weather is where you are and whether or not you are snowed in.  I would ask you what your plans are for Valentines Day :)  ... As for my V-day plans they are still up in the air because my Valentine will be at a conference an hour away from here and so I still need to decide whether I am going to drive out there to have dinner even though it's a work night... I'm pretty sure I will :)

If we were really meeting for coffee I would tell you that I am so excited for this weekend because it is the beginning of Rugby season and the Jurgenator and I, and a friend are going to our team's opening game.  I would also tell you that I am even more excited for the U2 concert on Sunday... I still can't believe they are touring in South Africa and that I was lucky enough to snag two of the late release tickets.  I would tell you that I can't wait to show you the pictures!  I would ask you about your weekend plans are and if you have anything exciting planned.

Thanks so much for meeting me for coffee... I hope we can do it again soon!

  1. Hey Jenna,

I noticed a few weeks ago that you've joined the blogging world {and started following my blog too...thanks!}. I'm so happy you're doing Virtual Coffee today too! It's a lot of fun and a great way to find new and exciting blogs.

If we were having coffee today, I would tell you that the weather here in California in a beautiful 70 degrees {during the day, of course}. Do you miss it?

And I'm so happy that your grandfather is doing well! I hope he continues to get better. You and your family will be in my prayers.

Stay safe, and have an amazing time at the concert! Sounds like fun!

    xoxo,
    Joelle

  2. Popping over from Virtual Coffee...you're in Joberg?! My dad's side of the family is from South Africa (mostly around Durban though we have friends still in Joberg). What brings you to South Africa?

Glad to hear you have good news about your Grandpa, and have fun at the U2 concert!

  3. Hi Jade... thanks for stopping by :) South Africa started out as a study abroad semester in 2008, but I found a boy that I kind of like here and so I never left!... It is actually crazy how small the world really is... you'd be suprised at how many people have some link to South Africa.

    Thanks for the well wishes
    Jenna

  6. Jenna! I am a week late but I am finally sitting down to virtual coffee with you! Its Sunday evening here and I just finished up all the thesis research I could possibly get done and fit in my head for the day so Im watching the Grammys. Its Monday morning for you so that means I want to ask you all about the U2 concert!! Youve got to blog about that and put up pix soon! I cant even imagine seeing such an amazing band in Soccer Stadium. That place is just huge! I bet it was amazing! I hope you survived the train ride, that sounds so sketch! I need lots of details! Also, I'm glad your grandpa is doing alright. I had no idea about any of that. We definitely need to do better calling each other. I wish we could text each other but I have a feeling international texts aren't cheap :( Maybe one day that will change! Things here are fine. I have school only once a week and am trying to spend the rest of my time doing thesis research so I can stay on top of all that. Its pretty overwhelming. And then as usual lots of riding and working out. I just signed up for a half marathon in May and another in June so I need to start training in the next couple weeks. If you were here I would try and convince you to join me and my cousins in one of those! My main question for you is when your next visit to the states will be?? Maybe I will make it back to SA sometime before then! I need to starting playing the lottery. Anyway, Happy Valentines Day! Miss you lots! Lets talk soon!
